Culinary highlights of the region

The ancient Romans. Inhabitants of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. People from all regions of the Mediterranean. They have all left their mark on the Friuli Venezia Giulia landscape. Their rich heritage can still be found. In kitchens and cellars, in pots and on plates. There are many wonderful and decidedly delicious opportunities to get to know the region in a particularly enjoyable way.

A delicious slice of tradition

When people say prosciutto, they usually mean Prosciutto di San Daniele. Now known the world over as a permanent fixture in the Italian taste universe, its history can be traced back to pre-Roman times. The long tradition of pig breeding, but also the special microclimate in Friuli-Venezia Giulia have played a part in preserving the special taste and production methods of prosciutto over the centuries, right up to the present day. Prosciutto takes its name from the small town of San Daniele di Friuli, which is located northwest of Udine, about an hour’s drive from our resort. We are immensely proud to have been a partner of “La Casa of Prosciutto” for many years. The only remaining ham producer in the old town of San Daniele invites you to a unique insight into the world of savoury delicacies. Our tip: If you’re heading north on your way home, make a stop there and take a slice of traditional Friuli Venezia Giulia taste home to your friends and family.

Piero and the Chocolate Factory

Not only has master confectioner Piero Zerbin fulfilled his own lifelong dream with “Cocambo”, but he has also created a little paradise for everyone who loves chocolate and coffee. The air near the historic excavation sites of Aquileia is filled with beguiling aromas. This is where the art of chocolate making and coffee roasting is celebrated. Cocambo is not just a manufactory, but also a world of experience, a laboratory and a café. Calorie counting is forbidden!

The art of liquid happiness

Four generations. 90 years of unwavering dedication to wine as a cultural asset: The Venica family has devoted itself completely to happiness in a glass with their winery Venica & Venica. This is something you can feel with all your senses during a visit to the Collio vineyards. The winegrowers love to talk about their history in the historic wine cellar. From sparkling whites to full-bodied reds – the wines of Venica are impressive on all levels.
